RACE FORMAT

Every race weekend starts with…...

Technical inspections and track set up : Saturday 2:00pm – 5:00pm and      Sunday 7:30am – 9:30am

All race boats must complete tech inspection.

Get your tech done and log book signed off, then help set up the race track/timing system.

Drivers Briefing: 9:30 am Sunday

All racer log books must be in before start of drivers briefing.

All drivers and safety crews must attend drivers briefing.

Qualifying: 10:00am – 1:00pm Sunday

Drivers are racing for the best qualifying position in there chosen race class. ET classes need to run as close to their class elapsed time (ET) index as possible to ensure number 1 qualifying position. With the unrestricted race classes lowest ET will qualifies first.

Staggered starts may occur during qualifying when different class boats line up against each other, this is a real crowd pleaser and makes for very close racing!

It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure their boat is entered in the right race class.

It is at the discretion of the Pit Marshall as to how the holding rope is loaded during qualifying.

Drivers can change race classes at any time during qualifying, consult your time slips and ensure you are in the correct class, see Pit Marshall or Drivers Rep if you need to make a class change.

Note: Make your qualifying runs count or you will be disadvantaged in eliminations and second chance draws.

Lunch break: 1:00pm – 1:30pm Sunday

Drivers, safety crews and VDBC officials lunch break

Please ensure all crews return to race position before end of lunch break!

Eliminations: 1:30pm – 3:00pm Sunday

First class qualifier races last class qualifier.

Ladder sheets will be printed for each round of eliminations…See PIT MARSHALL!!!

Drivers need to read ladder sheets to know who their competitor is and their holding rope position.

Drivers must be ready to race when their class is called to the holding rope.

Winners from each round progress through to the next round, runner up is eliminated.

Each class has its own ladder sheet (sample below)

Note: Don’t forget about second chance draws once eliminated, you might still get another run.

Finals: 3:00pm Sunday

When only 2 (two) boats in each class remain, we have finals.

Winner takes all!!!

Second chance draws: After Finals

Race director will pick qualifiers for all second chance draws from race data collated during the day. E.g. Qualifiers for the Bill Davis, Yella Terra Cup, ET Challenge, Bob Oliver ET Challenge and the Outboard ET Challenge.

Race Track Pack up: After racing

Get your race gear packed up, then get the race track/timing system packed up.

Don’t forget to grab your log book.

Note: Due to the unpredictable nature of drag boat racing all times listed above are a guide only!!!
